Sen. Lacson reveals calamity fund was made into pork funds

Senator Panfilo Lacson said that Php 15 billion worth of funds originally for the calamity fund of the country was overruled by legislators and turned into pork barrel funds last year.

The senator blamed the delays in the Marawi operation on this fact. Had the calamity fund received its original budget, more resources may be allocated and availed for the evacuees and casualties of the terrorist war.

Tinapyasan kasi ang calamity fund eh,” Lacson said.

Without dropping names, Lacson said that a certain legislator received Php 6 billion worth of pork funds while another received Php 5 billion last year.

Due to the consequences of the re-allocation of the budget, Lacson said this should serve as a lesson for 2018’s national budget.
