Message to VP Leni Robredo from a US-awardee Filipino physician: "Shame on you"

Vice President Leni Robredo was recorded saying that she went through garbage bins in Boston, Massachusetts to search for reusable items she and her daughter could use.

When she went back to the Philippines, she makes a speech appealing to the masses by describing herself as sympathetic to their struggles being an ordinary Filipina herself.

Even when she tries to make herself reputable, Dr. Eli Alegado, a distinguished Filipino physician who was awarded as the 2003 Physician of the Year of the US, emphasized that it Robredo’s basurera stint only shamed the Filipino race.

Alegado explains that picking up trash in the US did not make Robredo a sympathizer of the masses, but a “disgraceful and dishonest” image of the Filipinos.

She has besmirched the reputation of the nation by presenting the Philippines as mere garbage collectors of other countries, particularly so on US soil.

Alegada lamented that Robredo has shamed “hardworking and honest” Filipino workers in the midst of a Western country.

As the holder of the second highest position in the land, Robredo is a representation, even a symbol, of the Filipinos. By donning herself as a mere garbage collector in the US, Alegado implies that she has disgraced the nation.

In his full post on Facebook, Alegado said,

"Message to fake Vice President, Leni Robredo:

I (Dr. Eli Alegado) worked so hard in the United States of America to serve the community and earn the highest designation as the 2003 Physician of the Year which was presented to me by the US Congress. It's a shame to hear that while on your recent trip to Boston, Massachusetts this week, you were going through public waste in hopes of searching for usable items. Furthermore, upon your arrival back to the Philippines you presented yourself to the public as a hardworking and ordinary citizen trying to cope with the struggles of daily living like all other ordinary Filipino. However, by doing such a disgraceful act in the US, you have shamed the Filipino image within the Western Community. You have made all the hardworking and honest Filipinos around the world seem like as if they are all beggars and have no dignity by going through other people's rubbish. This is an insult to each and every Filipino not only in the United States but also around the world. We are hardworking, dedicated, and honest people. We do NOT pickup the leftovers of other people's garbage and surely do not go in search of usable items in Public waste bins. Shame on you for putting such a disgraceful and dishonest image to all Filipinos."

    1. With due respect whoever you are .... Leni Robredo is representing the second powerful person in the country-Philippines ... The whole world knew that ... What she did is a shame to all Filipinos around the world...
What!? The Vice President of the Philippines is looking for something from garbage bins? She must think also of the position she's holding if she really care!

  4. What a stupid person this doctor is! In both Australia and the Philippines, picking up and using another person's garbage for your use is not a shameful thing. It is the practical thing to do for some Filipinos. The haves should not disdain the have nots! I had friends in Sydney who furnished their flats with what seemed as garbage to some. Also, on weekends, both the have and have nots visited the trash and treasure stores. Some were proud of their finds and some hid them only to clean them and put them on display as "bought brand new"! Also, why bury yourself in credit when you can have stuff for free na pwede pa naman!
