Netizen cites the bitterness of the loss of a previous power-holder in the Philippines as his fear for the presidency of President Rodrigo Duterte.

The cause if the President’s downfall may come from three factors which are impeachment, assassination, or a coup, netizen Charles Englund said in his Facebook post.

Manila was once the stronghold of the powerful few, but a revolution stands in its stead with a “vulgar old president from Mindanao” sitting on the seat of power intent on bringing change to the country.

Englund notes that the former seats of power, Church and media, are gathering their wits and weaponry to take down the likes of Duterte and reinstitute the old ways.

Duterte is not like the oligarchs and elites who held the Philippines for so long. Englund argues that Duterte does not possess the youth or good looks or sweet words that Yellows have, and yet that is what the Filipinos want.

In his full post on Facebook, Englund said,

"One of the reasons I was hesitant in supporting Duterte was because I doubted he could stay in power. He would either be impeached, assassinated (a plane crash), or a coup would take place. An old order and an oligarchy just do not go quietly into the night. If Duterte does what he said he will do, the system will fight back. The who's who in Manila will fight back. After all, what has happened is already short of revolutionary. A vulgar old president from Mindanao who curses and stands up to the old traditional power groups: the Church, the mainstream media, etc. is at the helm. He is a cold war relic, a left-leaning dinosaur.

It would have helped if he were young and polished and good-looking. If honey fell from his tongue instead of acid. But this is the Philippines, folks. We get what we get and make do. We aspire for a Trudeau-like cabinet, add a little duct tape and sweat, say three Hail Marys and hope it floats.

So pardon me if I doggedly rebut the criticisms, at least for the first 100 days...it's because I am fearful for what I am seeing in the future. All the hate we are seeing now is just the first movement in a long symphony."
