Binibining Pilipinas International 2017 Mariel De Leon criticized Mocha Uson in a series of tweets after the latter was appointed as the Presidential Communications Operations Office Assistant Secretary, to which social media personality Sass Sasot lashed back at the beauty queen.

These appointees, like Mocha, serve at the pleasure of the president. As such, they should have a particular bias --- and that is, they must support the reforms and policies of the administration,” Sasot argued referring to De Leon’s statement that Uson is unsuited for the job because of her biases.

Sasot further explained that Uson’s life experiences have turned her into the Duterte supporter that she is now.

Her father was a judge who handled cases involving big criminal syndicates: he got assassinated,” Sasot said adding that “your [De Leon] greatest challenge in life is to win a crown for a beauty contest.”

The social media warrior also noted that Uson got a diploma before De Leon in a medical course, and added that the beauty queen, on the other hand, has a degree in cooking. This was Sasot’s statement that repealed De Leon’s claims of Uson being uneducated.

Rejecting De Leon’s claims of other “respected (and respectful)” people more deserving of the position, Sasot underscored that Uson is well loved by the vendors outside the bar where Uson’s group performs and her arsenal of followers on her Facebook page and blog gives credence to Uson’s respectability.

In her full post on Facebook, Sasot said,

Ms Mariel de Leon:

1. Loyalty is important in an appointed position. These appointees, like Mocha, serve at the pleasure of the president. As such, they should have a particular bias --- and that is, they must support the reforms and policies of the administration.

Unlike you who lived a pampered life, Mocha was exposed to the cruelties of this world at an early age. Her father was a judge who handled cases involving big criminal syndicates: he got assasinated. I believe you were almost at the same age when that happened. I mean, while Mocha at your age had to face that kind of life, your greatest challenge in life is to win a crown for a beauty contest. Classic case of depth of life experience vs vapidness.

2. Mocha got her diploma before you got yours. FYI, she finished a medical degree and got into one of the top med schools in the PH. I believe your degree is related to cooking?

3. What is respected and respectful during this highly polarized moment in our political history is highly questionable. I believe the people who Mocha helped through her blog would disagree with you.

I was with Mocha in the second week of February. The vendors outside the bar where her group performs love her. They immediately ran to her and embraced her upon seeing her, like a long lost sister.

Mocha can be very blunt in her FB especially if she feels passionate about the issue.

I'm not really sure if you know what the job of being a PCOO Asec on Social Media entails. Well, Bb Pilipinas-International, it fundamentally entails understanding and having an actual experience in community engagement online. Now tell us, how is Mocha not qualified to do the job? But before that: What made you qualified to gauge someone's qualification in that field?

  7. What made Mariel de Leon qualified to gauge someone’s qualification in that field?

Mariel de Leon is just exercising her constitutional rights. Allow me to educate you Ms. Sasot: Article III, Section 4 of the 1987 Philippine Constitution states: “No law shall be passed abridging the freedom of speech, of expression, or of the press, or the right of the people peaceably to assemble and petition the government for redress of grievances.”

Let me remind you Ms. Sasot that the Mariel de Leon is a taxpayer. Uson being a public servant (an alter ego of the President at that now) is subject to public scrutiny.

Uson's compensation will fall under Salary Grade 29, equivalent to a monthly basic gross salary of at least P106,454, excluding allowances and bonuses. See?
    It’s a big taxpayers’ money, isn’t it?

Mariel de Leon said: “There are so many other unbiased, educated, and respected (and respectful) people who deserve her place."

Unfortunately, Mocha Uson does not fit to Mariel de Leon and to the rest of DECENT Filipinos just and sound standards.

  8. Yes, its true that Mariel de Leon is a taxpayer. So is Mocha Uson. That being equal, who is Mariel de Leon to suggest that Mocha Uson is not worthy of respect? I am a decent and highly-educated Filipino and I respect Mocha Uson. If "the rest of DECENT Filipinos just and sound standards" questions Mocha Uson, I wouldn't be surprised that you will chastise Christ for giving importance to Mary Magdalene. You modern pharisees!
