“Ang sa aming pamilya ay biahe. Wala kaming luho sa sasakyan, bahay o damit. Sa amin talaga biahe, meron kaming travel fund,” Leni said during an interview last July 2016.
The funds they use for their travels were taken from her late husband Jesse Robredo’s Ramon Magsaysay Award which amounts to $50,000 (Php 2,250,000). Her family deposited the amount in a Time Deposit where they would withdraw only the interest while leaving out the principal amount.
The interest withdrawn is then used for travelling expenses, however Leni admits that if the interest is not enough they would put hold any travel plans.
However, this amount that Jesse was awarded with never appeared in Leni’s Statement of Assets, Liabilities, and Net Worth (SALN) for 2015.
On top of that, Leni also did not declare the Php 500,000 third-party liability they had from the aviation insurance policy of Malayan Insurance for the death of her husband which is reflected in the letter sent by Brig. Gen. Rodante S. Joya of the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines of the Department of Transportation and Communications where Jesse’s death entitled is family to.
Leni also did not list their Metro Manila address at Lansberg Place at Tomas Morato, Quezon City as part of her real properties and confirmed that she did not own it during the same interview where she revealed her family’s luho.
The only cash asset Leni declared was Php 10,273,803 which she claims to have acquired from different years.
