As Mocha Uson bears the heat of criticisms after posting a photo supposedly of Marawi soldiers, but turns out to be policemen in Honduras, netizen comes to her aid and underlines that visuals of actual soldiers is banned from being publicized.

Malcolm Conlan believes it was only “appropriate” of Uson to have refrained from using actual photos of Filipino troops clashing against terrorist attacks in Marawi City as it may threaten military tactics.

Rappler was quick to issue a scathing article on Uson’s mistaken post and posted official Presidential photos to emphasize the authority of the source contrary to what Uson had done.

However, Conlan retorted that the online news outlet should criticize itself first pointing out their tendency to be “selective” in their news articles to purposely change the “feeling and sentiment” of public opinion.

He even criticized Rappler for focusing on a petty issue despite the tragedy going on in Marawi and noted that in these trying times, news outlets should refrain from “politics and cheap point scoring”.

He expressed support for Uson urging her to continue exercising her responsibilities as Communications Assistant Secretary and supporting President Rodrigo Duterte and Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW).

In his full post on Facebook, Conlan said,

"Regarding the photo which the Mocha Uson Blog shared to represent soldiers in Marawi, it had been made very clear by Govt agencies not to post photos of actual soliders in action, which could compromise operations on the ground. I find that the actions of the Mocha Uson blog were entirely appropriate therefore.

Before Rappler start being critical of others, they should look at themselves. They were very selective in a news article they shared the other day, totally changing the feeling and sentiment.

ASec Mocha Uson continue doing what you are doing and have done, supporting PRRD and indeed OFW's through your blog. Rappler are playing a dirty game when the terrible situation in Marawi, should be entirely above politics and cheap point scoring. Condolences to all those who have lost ones in Marawi and Maraming Salamat Ms Mocha Uson for all you are doing for us

Praying for peace and order in Marawi"
