Duterte slams ABS, Inquirer: “Oligarchs” who “control the waves” and air “balita na basura”
President Rodrigo Duterte hits back at news company giants ABS CBN and Inquirer for reporting on allegations that he has accumulated an ill-gotten wealth of Php 211 million by bringing up the issue of ABS CBN failing to air his election ads after he paid for it and of Inquirer being unable to pay all their taxes.

During a press interview, Duterte described the atrocities of the two media companies.
For ABS CBN, Duterte accused them of having accepted his payment to air his election ads during the 2016 elections, and yet ABS CBN never did air it.
“Bumili ako ng propaganda time, alam mo yung putanginang ABS CBN na yan tinaggap nila yung pera ko, Doris, they never should…and hanggang ngayon wala lang man offer to reimburse or return the money,” Duterte said of ABS CBN as he was addressing ABS CBN reporter Doris Bigornia.
“Ganun ka walang hiya yung mga putanginang oligarchs na yan,” he added.
Duterte also pointed out the violation of the media company when the Supreme Court issued a Temporary Restraining Order (TRO) against the airing of Senator Antonio Trillnes IV’s ad that used children.
“Yung ginamit nila yung mga bata na…huwag yan kasi, you know, that’s child abuse, that’s why there was a TRO, only ABS [aired Trillanes’s ad],” Duterte explained.
As for Inquirer, Duterte divulged that the media company also owns Dunkin Donuts which still has debts in their taxes.
“Walang binayad, kung binayad konti lang, yan ang totoo na mga oligarchs na mayayaman,” Duterte said of Inquirer’s debts.
The President further described the two news companies to be the kind of “oligarchs” who “control the waves” and air “mga balita na basura” such as his alleged unexplained wealth.
Duterte confidently challenged the two media outfits that if they can prove he has amassed ill-gotten wealth, “I will step down tomorrow as president of this republic and if my sons and daughter ma-involve sa corruption during my time, I will step down, you have my word of honor there.”
