President Rodrigo Duterte finally disclosed to the public why he fried former Interior Secretary Ismael Sueno earlier this month.

As Duterte was giving his speech during the Cine Lokal in Pasay City, he said that Sueno boldly lied to his face about the alleged irregularities in the purchase of firetrucks from Austria.
Sueno pushed through with the purchase of Austrian firetrucks even when his legal team that time advised him that it was questionable.
With Social Welfare Secretary Judy Taguiwalo as part of the audience, Duterte referred to her as a witness to the conflict between him and Sueno.
“She [Taguiwalo] was there, so nakita talaga ‘nong, nabasa ko ‘yung report,” Duterte said.
“Tapos ‘yung report niya [Sueno] galing sa legal officer niya mismo. At sabi ko bakit pumunta doon to sign, to buy it fire truck worth P18 million?”
“He (Sueno) went to sign and when I asked him during the Cabinet meeting, I said, ‘did you not read the…’ And he said, ‘No, I was not furnished a —‘ Gusto kong sampalin eh kaya lang nandiyan man sila ma’am,” Duterte added.
With the mounting tension that time, Duterte was forced to fire Sueno on grounds of the suspicious purchase of the firetrucks.
Sueno continues to deny being involved in questionable or corrupt activities.
