San Beda Law Dean urges VP Robredo supporters not to link Bongbong to impeachment case
Supporters of Vice President Leni Robredo is accusing Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. of having a hand in the impeachment complaint against the Vice President by tagging its main proponent Atty. Oliver Lozano as a Marcos loyalist.
This was how San Beda College of Law Dean Fr. Ranhilio Aquino explained the dilemma with Robredo supporters labeling Lozano as a Marcos supporter.
“It seems that is what his practice of law is limited to [filing impeachment complaints] these days. And whether or not Bongbong Marcos is his friend, he would filed anyway against any impeachable official he fancies,” Aquino said of Lozano.
While an electoral fraud issue in the vice presidential elections is brewing, Aquino asserts that Marcos’ name “should not be unfairly co-opted — against his will” to the impeachment case, after all, Marcos has been silent with all the noise around Robredo lately.
On the other hand, Aquino added that Robredo’s criticisms against President Rodrigo Duterte’s war on drugs was her right to express concern.
“When Attorney Robredo expressed her concern and dismay over the spate of extrajudicial executions and murders in the country, she was echoing what bishops and other concerned citizens have long decried,” Aquino said.
