A call to gather and lobby for the recently terminated peace talks between the government and the rebels will take place on February 17, 2017 (Friday) by 4pm at the Bonifacio Shrine in Manila and EDSA People Power on February 25, 2017 (Saturday).

Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan) secretary general Renato M. Reyes Jr. posted on Facebook, Thursday night, an invitation for all Filipinos to “stand for a just peace and to oppose in the strongest terms the all-out war being carried out by the AFP [Armed Forces of the Philippines] against the people,”
Recent events have alarmed the nation with impending ransoms from terrorist groups and the ongoing violence of rebels. The march protest, thus, is for peace negotiations between the current administration and the National Democratic Front of the Philippines (NDFP) to resume.
Another protest is called to materialize on February 25, 2017 (Saturday) to commemorate the 31st anniversary of EDSA People Power and how it “reminds us how so many things remain fundamentally the same and why we continue to struggle for genuine change,” as Reyes posted.
His full post on Facebook reads,
On February 17, we ask our friends to gather at the Bonifacio Shrine in Manila at 4pm, to stand for a just peace and to oppose in the strongest terms the all-out war being carried out by the AFP against the people. We ask our friends to join us in calling for the continuation of the peace talks between the GRP and the NDFP. We ask everyone to condemn the recent spate of human rights violations against activists and civilians in the cities and in the countryside.
On February 25, we march again, this time to commemorate the 31st anniversary of EDSA People Power. We celebrate the heroism of the people in toppling a dictatorship. EDSA@31 however reminds us how so many things remain fundamentally the same and why we continue to struggle for genuine change. One historical lesson which remains valid; all-out war and fascist repression failed during the Marcos dictatorship and will surely fail again under the current adminstration.
We remind the Duterte government that in these very difficult times, one thing remains certain: resistance."
