Senate Sergeant at Arms Jose Balajadia assisted the convicted senator as agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) led by director Chief Supt. Roel Obusan arrived to arrest De Lima.
After announcing that she was expecting and prepared for her imminent arrest, De Lima was issued an order of arrest by the Muntinlupa Regional Trial Court which should have been served to her on February 23, 2017 (Thursday), however the senator pleaded to be given time to spend with her family.
The senator was just leaving for home when at 8pm on Thursday, she hurried back to her Senate Office after hearing reports that the CIDG team would serve the arrest warrant at her house in Paranaque City.
The senator requested that her arrest be done during the day and at her Senate Office so as not to have her family witness the arrest.
