According to National Capital Region Police chief Superintendent Oscar Albayalde, the police officer who fired the gun was identified PO1 Daniel Castillo.
PO1 Castillo, 29 was assigned to Manila Police District (MPD) Station 1.
Chief Albayalde said that PO1 Castillo was already placed under police custody.
It was reported that Castillo was drunk even before the New Year's Eve when he fired his gun indiscriminate.
The investigation also showed that the case of Castillo is isolated because most of the NCR police officers followed the strict order to refrain from firing their service firearms.
During the previous years, the practice of taping service firearms muzzles were conducted to avoid indiscriminate firing.
Last month, in a command conference, PNP chief Dir. General Ronald Dela Rosa ordered to stop the practice to show to the people that the PNP is a disciplined and trusted organization.
