Duterte on stopping sale of rifles to PHL: Remember what the Russian diplomat said?
President Rodrigo Duterte is untroubled by reports that the US State Department halt the planned sale of 26,000 assault rifle on the Philippine National Police (PNP).
"Maraming de bomba dito," Duterte said.
"Remember what the Russian diplomat said? Come to Russia. We have everything you need," he added.
President Duterte repeatedly mentioned in his speeches that he met with Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev in Laos and said that they are willing to help the country.
According to GMA News Online, Russian Ambassador Igor said,
"Please formulate your wish list. What kind of assistance do you expect from Russia and we will be ready to sit down with you and discuss what can and should be done."
Khovaev also said Russia is open to cooperation with the Philippines.
"It includes any area, any field of possible cooperation."
Malacañang said that the Philippine government can get assault rifles to other sources.
