After the lookout order was issued to Senator Leila De Lima, her colleague Senator Risa Hontiveros criticized the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Hontiveros said that that it was unfair to give the lookout order to De Lima because she has not been officially charged in court.

De Lima has been linked as a protector of the illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) when she was still the Justice Secretary.

According to the witnesses, De Lima ordered Sebastian to raise money for her campaign as a senator during the 2016 election.

“The first time this order was implemented was in 2011 against several DBP (Development Bank of the Philippines) officials who were officially charged as a result of a behest loans controversy. The same thing can’t be said of Sen. De Lima,” Hontiveros said.

Hontiveros said, because of the order, it will give the impression that De Lima was guilty and has been officially charged with criminal acts.

Both Hontiveros and De Lima were advocates of human rights and critics of Duterte. They also ran for senator under the Liberal Party.

Meanwhile, De Lima said that she will take action against DOJ Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II for issuing a lookout order against her.
