On Thursday, September 29, a check worth of P45,992,500 was given to MPD Director Senior Supt. Joel Coronel by Mayor Joseph Estrada.

“Some city hall employees have been jealous of you. They are asking why I always attend to your needs first,” he told the police officers.

“But I would tell them: our policemen risk their lives everyday to keep us, all of you, secure and protected. We sleep peacefully at night because there are men like them who are ready to lay their lives to keep us away from danger,” Estrada added.

Representing the second tranche of their so-called “peace and order allowances” for the year, covering the period from May to August.

Each police offier will received P2,500 allowance per month.

For the month of September to December 2016, the MPD will get another P10,000 each. The city hall had alloted P137 million for the local police in 2016.
