Jaybee Sebastian will file charges against De Lima and prison officials
Convicted kidnapper and alleged drug lord Jaybee Sebastian is set to press charges against Senator Leila De Lima and top officials of the New Bilibid Prison for graft, violation of ethical standards for public officials and torture, a television report said Wednesday.
According to GMA News, inmate and alleged drug lord Jaybee Sebastian said to the press that he will file charges against Senator Leila de Lima and other top officials of the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) for graft, violation of ethical standards for public officials and torture.
Reported by Chino Gaston on Tuesday, October 4, on GMA News TV's Balitanghali, Sebastian said he will also include former Bureau of Corrections Director Rainier Cruz, and New Bilibid Prison Director Superintendent Richard Schwarzkopf.
Sebastian will file charges againts the said officials in connection with his transfer to Building 14 of the maximum security compound despite threats to his life from the Bilibid 19 inmates.
Sebastian's legal counsel Eduardo Arriba Jr. added that his client requested numerous times to the NBP leadership for his transfer but was declined, knowing that De Lima said Sebastian was a government asset.
Arriba also said that aside from the stabbing incident that injured Sebastian and caused riot, he was also allegedly the primary target in a grenade throwing incident in the NBP.
Senator De Lima, will face torture raps for placing Sebastian under solitary confinement and lockdown at Building 14.
