Former Interior and Tourism Secretary Rafael Alunan has urged the Presidential Communications Office to impose punishment on journalists who reported that President Rodrigo Duterte publicly insulted United States President Barack Obama.

In a Facebook post of Alunan, he said punish journalist and blacklist all of them.

"The media that went to town saying that Du30 insulted Pres BHO should be singled out and sanctioned for malice and placing the country's diplomatic relations with the U.S. at risk," Alunan said.

He also advised the senior officials to 'undergo seminars on how to deal with the press and how press cons and interviews should be managed or handled.'

  1. News agencies and the press still report the incident as "Duterte called Obama a 'son of a whore' even after Lingao apologized for his flawed reporting. There really ought to be a law against these kinds of reporting. These media people think they can say anything because of the freedom of expression. Congress should do something about it.
