Tuesday, October 18, a newspaper reporter scolded by Senator Richard Gordon for tagging him as an "ally" of President Rodrigo Duterte.

“Why do you keep saying I’m an ally of Duterte? Am I PDP-Laban (Partido Demokratiko Pilipino- Lakas ng Bayan)? Am I? Am I?,” Gordon said.

According to one article of Inquirer, Gordon was described as "a known Duterte ally."

The reporter then asked Gordon if he was denying that he was the President ally, Gordon replied: "I'm a senator. I'm an independent."

"Who’s the first one to attack Duterte? Me,” Gordon said.

Gordon was referring to his remarks to Duterte for being "too noisy" for wanting suspected drug users and pushers killed.

Gordon ran as an independent candidate in the 2016 senatorial elections.
