"I do not know the full story of yesterday’s violent dispersal of our indigenous brothers and sisters.
And when I go on Facebook to get some facts, I am sickened by those who would use this tragedy to forward their hate for the President. No matter if it is done in such a bumbling and blatantly cynical manner.
Like the recent graceless manner Cynthia Patag and company used someone’s death to further their political agenda.
For them, the simple-minded, the world is divided into pro-Duterte and anti-Duterte and their weapons are Fear and Hate.
And they wield these weapons and force a reframing of even the most sacred of events (death) and even the gravest of matters--- the patently unjust and cruel ways the US-imperialist-run State has treated our national minorities throughout history—to suit whatever nefarious political agenda they may have.
And I may not know the full story about what took place yesterday—and I will not join in in the fray of speculations. I can wait for a clearer unfolding of the picture because it is in the utmost interest of the IP that we do.
So we know who, really, is the enemy.
All I know is I stand solidly, squarely behind my brother and sister Lumad, my brother and sister Moro, and all our brother and sister minorities.
And I stand solidly behind the President whose track record shows his care and protection of our indigenous brothers and sisters.
And I condemn in no uncertain terms the use of the IPs and their million and one grievances by the cynical among us who would seek to undermine this government and would like nothing more than to unseat a duly elected President.
This President—who has shown great care towards the IPs—like no other president before him has. Their one best shot at finally getting the justice that has eluded them for centuries."
