"I do not intervene, dwell into matters not within my [purview], not part of my territory. I don’t care how many hearings are there… Basta ako nakatutok ako sa aking trabaho,” Duterte said in an interview in Davao City.

Known to many, De Lima has been one of the critics of the president since the presidential campaign and the current administration's war on crime and drugs.

Last Thursday, September 15, during the senate hearing where De Lima was still the chair of the committee, she presented Edgar Matobato - a self-confessed hitman and member of DDS who accused Duterte of ordering killings and bombings when the president was still mayor of Davao City.
In a privilege speech of Senator Allan Peter Cayetano, De Lima was the target which caused the latter to walk out. Cayetano said that De Lima is using the hearings to take down Duterte.

According to GMA News Online, De Lima said that President Duterte is the mastermind to oust her.

"Wala po akong duda na may kinalaman diyan ang ating Pangulo," she said.

"Imposible po walang kinalaman dito ang ating Pangulo," she added.

De Lima was replaced by Senator Richard Gordon who will continue the investigation of alleged extra judicial killings of suspected drug dealers and pushers.
