Husband of Miriam: Yung pagmamahal at papuri sa kaniya, sana naigawa nu`ng buhay pa siya
Former Senator Miriam Defensor-Santiago died in her sleep on Thursday morning, September 29. Santiago was 71.
According to GMA News Online, when the husband of Miriam, Jun Santiago was greeted by the media on his way inside the Immaculate Conception Cathedral Grottos, Mr. Santiago was emotional and said that the love and praises to her wife should have been made when she was still alive.
"Yung pagmamahal at papuri sa kaniya, sana naigawa nu'ng buhay pa siya, dahil ang buhay niya—kamukha ni Presidente Duterte, binuhos nila sa pagsisilbi sa bayan at sa tao," Mr. Santiago said.
"Pero nu'ng buhay pa siya, hindi nabigyan eh," he added.
Later on, Mr. Santiago said that he saw tributes to her wife in the papers and apologized to the media for being emotional. But he still said,
"Sana nu'ng buhay pa ginawa 'yan."
Miriam Defensor Santiago served in all three branches of the Philippine government – judicial, executive, and legislative. She was also became the first Filipina and the first Asian to be elected a judge of the International Criminal Court.
Santiago also published a joke book in 2014 entitled Stupid is Forever, a collection of jokes, comebacks, one-liners, and pick-up lines she used in speeches.
